Bacon.

Amy Winfrey just might be the best human ever.

It’s most officially fall.  Tonight It was COLD and rainy, the bone chillin’ sort.  I wore a sweater because I HAD to and turned the HEAT on in the car.  That’s enough to make anyone stew a bit transitional.   Especially if they are not in the car with a big mug of Earl Grey Tea. I AM. seriously. in TRANSITION.  I am hoping that like in birth, it is a short intense freak-out that ends in something nice.

Off to  bed to dream of fried bacon bow ties for breakfast– that ones for you Erin, meeeeoooow!

We are back from a lovely visit with family for Easter & spring break.  It’s all rainy all the time here in Baltimore now.

It is supposed to be nice for a few days now though.  Not that rain isn’t nice :) .

Tomorrow BATTS and more BATTS plus some yarn and a gnomeswap Cornelia.

Wool 100% & The Fall

I have watched 2 of the most wonderful movies recently.

The first was Wool 100% ( 2003)– recommended by Matryoshka

( WHO FINALLY HAS A BLOG! CHECK THE ROLL—>)

I had it forever from Netflix and after a month or so, got to watch it.  ( Netflix makes their bread and butter off slackers like me , zzzzzz)

So, it is a enormously beautiful movie.   Crazy with the BIG C– but in all the best ways.  Dreamy, fairy-tale-like,  totally out-there at times most of the time, some anime, visually gorgeous…. on and on.  I am no Roger Ebert, but it’s been a couple of months now since I saw it and I am still haunted by it.

It’s about 2 sisters who are the absoulute ultimate collectors.  They comb their town for treasures in the trash bins– sort of like shopping the sidewalk on bulk trash night when we were younger, :)   Their house is a complete marvel.  They catalogue their finds and give them the greatest of care.   They derive so much joy from their collections.  The seeming chaos is really an OCD masterpiece of order.  Until the lovely red wool…

It has a lot of knitting and a marvelous character called “Knit-Again.” She utters the best knitting battle cry;  one to which we can all relate– “DAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNN! I HAVE  TO KNIT ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!

The trailer is a bit freaky.  I pass along Matryoshka’s recommendation with a hearty second.  It is awe-inspiring.

The second– THE FALL.

I think this was rec’d by the lovely chronographia, the hat temptress.  I just watched this movie last night.  Again it has been here from Netflix since Feb 27!  Now I can hardly bear to part with it!

Again, a gorgeous movie.  I loved the story.  Everything about it really.

g’nite.

Foolish food.

meatcakes

Rosie was really sad at the prospect of cupcakes with no ACTUAL sugar involved.  She was also not a big fan of meatloaf in a weird shape.  A different child from the one who LOVED meatloaf cake last year.  What’a a mama to do?

She ate it though… just to get to the doughnut-desert on the other side.  Poor poppet.

I have spent hours at the drum carder this week and will have lots of beautiful fiber batts for sale at MD Sheep and Wool as well as online.  I’ll get some snaps of them in the next day or so and give you a peek.  I have been dreaming of the garden whilst making them and ended up with some very botanically influenced little lovelies.

Oh, Hey!– I am reading a book from my best girlfriend next door and it is well making up for the 2 disappointments last week.  It’s The Lace Reader.  It’s hard to put it down at night. :)   Here are the amazon tags to tempt you–

Anything that is tagged with both “harbinger of doom” and “madapple” needs a read!  I’m here on goodreads in case you want a book- friend :)

Love this.

Rosie came running up the hill from  school–”MAMA!!! I broke my finger today!!!”  A million and five thoughts are flying through my head, like “School would have called me if she broke her finger right??”  She crawled up the hill to our house an showed off her very fancy cast…
