Kids Artist Trading Cards Swap–fini!

We’ll be sending the ATC cards out tomorrow!  This has been so fun!  I make sure I post a picture once they have all arrived from the swap-pals. This was a great experience… both girls played around with some new materials/techniques and are so excited to see what comes back to them.

Here are Rosies

and Marigolds

family art days

A couple of them. The girls are working on their artist trading card swap cards.  I flung out my inspiration piece for Art from Writing… and now I have a wonderful Writing from Art component to do.  That will be this weekend’s work.  Here are a few pictures…. I don’t have time for many words tonight…. Just know that Esme is growing. Big.  She is still growing the quills.  And Marigold is growing the TEETH.  Had 3 just fall right out last week.  It seems so much weirder to witness as an adult than it did to go through it as a child.   I am woefully behind on LIFE.  Not sure how I am going to catch up yet– but I don’t think it’s going to happen this week!

Rosemary sure has a thing for the painted hand….

Here is the piece I did for the Art from Writing:Writing from Art Project. I am pretty excited about working on my response piece now.  I got a great partner and lovely writing to work with. :)

Call for Participants— Art from Writing::Writing from Art

You may remember me posting about this awesome project from last go-round.  It was so much fun, and a chance to work with some really wonderful artists and writers.  I’ll be participating again– please come and join in!!!

Here is the website link to more information on the project– click on image…

The “theme” this time–  A Message of Hope

Are you an artist or writer who enjoys or is intrigued by collaborative creativity??  If so, my dear friend Amy Souza is looking for you!  If you are interested in participating– you need to let her know by this Friday, February 6th at the latest!   You can contact her at

AMY ( CLICK on that!)

A note from Amy–

The next artistic/literary exchange starts on Feb 13th; ends Feb 22nd. Again, pick 2 days (48 hours) in which to work. They don’t have to be contiguous. You send your inspiration piece to your partner (and Amy) by the 13th; send me finished work by the 22nd/23rd. The theme this time is “hope.” Not sure how it’ll work out, but if you have an inspiration piece that says “hope” to you, send that to your partner. If not, just send her whatever you want. But I’m asking everyone to look at their partner’s work through the lens of “hope.” Again, it’s so vague, you can define it how you want, and if nothing comes to you through that lens then forget it and just let the piece inspire you.  If you have questions, please contact Amy or ask away here.. just HURRY!

Sketchy for Hennie

Time for the sketchbook entries in Hennie-dear’s book.  I loved her work and what others have done.

Peg-n-mine’s exquisite corpse-esque adventure continue…. her door opens from a lovely Narnia in winter world to reveal the antlered knitter– and the place that she gets her red yarn.

Hedward’s cage and Jim’s dockside Shangri-La.

Sheltering thoughts.

and matryoshka for Matryoshka and a matryoshka-house of sorts…

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I am still under the spell of the bad germs….

I still have much to do around here, but wanted to share with you something very beautiful that I have been enjoying this “Holiday Blog Season”…

Margaret Oomen of resurrection fern is an amazing tornado of creativity and joyous observation.  There was honestly a time not too long ago when I could not even keep up with her posts!

Her posts this month have been so very awesome.  She is such a creative woman.  I really don’t know where she finds the time or inspiration for it all– bewitched is all I can figure.   And what she posts is often just plain bewitching.  This post in particular totally took me.  So beautiful and so simple, and such a beautiful idea.

Lace and Ice

Then she posted this movie which is so incredibly lovely that I wanted to share it with anyone not familiar with her blog.

Isn’t that THE awesome??

I would have loved to try this, but a.) no doilies, b.) too warm. OH RIGHT, this morning we woke up to the tundra outside.  My rhodie leaves are curled up like pencils!  Alas and alack… still no doilies.  I will keep enjoying this little movie though and wish I could visit their graceful performance in person.

Here’s a little present for you.  Better a  little late than never, right?  I made these gift tags and would love to share them with you for the Holidays.  The .pdfs are on they’re own pages to the right—>

I had so much fun witht the “inner monologue” ones that Amy Karol at Angry Chicken shared last year.  I was finishing up my monthly sketchbook pages last night and felt inspired to make some too.

Here are your gnome-garden variety ones::

And then a little Twilight snuggle for those similarly obsessed::

I wish you the Merriest EVER– have a great time with friends and family.  Be safe wherever you travel.  We are off to Florida 2 days after Christmas for another adventure.

More soon!
